MATH is everywhere! Especially in sewing: measuring fabric, grading patterns, and calculating seam allowances. But the mathematics in sewing is much deeper than those skills. When you get down to it, sewing is applied geometry. PARADE Teacher, Connie Schutte knows this too and applied for a grant in the fall to purchase 7 heavy-duty sewing machines to use in the 5th-8th grade classrooms at the Riverview Learning Center. REF was thrilled to award this grant and the sewing machines have just arrived. What a fun way to teach math while learning a skill.
